How Automated Emails and Messages Choose a Language

Delta PMS checks guest language information in the order shown below and uses the first language with a matching configured automation. If no match is found, it falls back to the default Guest Communication Language.

Diagram of automated guest communication language selection priority: OTA preferred language, nationality, phone country code, and default guest communication language.

Example:

Suppose a guest has an OTA preferred language of Japanese, and a Japanese automation has been created. Delta PMS selects Japanese automation. If the preferred language is missing or does not match an available language automation, it checks nationality, then phone country code, and finally uses the default guest communication language.

Frequently asked questions

  • Will changing Display Language change the language of guest emails?

No. Display Language controls the PMS interface. Guest communication is managed separately through Guest Communication Language settings and the automation language-selection rules.

  • Can I remove English or Japanese from Guest Communication Language?

No. English and Japanese are predefined and cannot be removed.

  • What if the OTA does not provide a preferred language?

Delta PMS will use the other available guest signals in the defined priority order and ultimately fall back to the company's default guest communication language.

  • Which languages appear in a booking's preferred-language dropdown?

Only languages selected in the company's Guest Communication Language settings.
